I sure love coconut oil and I have no problems remembering why

NutriSue - coconut oil

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love coconut oil.
I use it for everything. For cooking, baking, instead of butter on bread, in smoothies, in soups and stews, as a skin cream, lip balm, to soothe my stomach if I have a tummy ache, as an ointment when I have any skin irritation or area that needs healing and as bribe and treat for my dogs.
i joke with my friends that I should be a sales rep for the stuff. I believe in it that much.
While so many people use skin creams and ointments with loads of chemicals such as fragrances, colours, etc; give me my coconut oil any time.
My naturopath once recommended that I use Vaseline to heal a scar that I had after surgery on my foot. Nope, I said, I’ll stick to my coconut oil. I checked the website for Vaseline and there is a list of  44 ingredients. Coconut oil. One ingredient, plus I can eat it. I don’t think I’d eat Vaseline. And, as skin is our largest organ, I’d rather slather it with something I can eat instead of something with that many ingredients.

And here’s more good news about coconut oil from an article from GreenMedInfo.com:

Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT )Fats Found In Coconut Oil Boost Brain Function In Only One Dose

Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), the primary type of fat found within coconut oil, have been found to boost cognitive performance in older adults suffering from memory disorders as serious as Alzheimer’s — and not after months or even days of treatment, but after a single 40 ml dose! (read the whole article here).

And here’s another interesting article about coconut oils performance versus petroleum body care products.

  1. Thanks for giving me even more reasons to love coconut oil, Sue! And how’s this for timing: just before I read your post I had come from giving my dog a spoonful of the stuff!
